By the Numbers

-25.1%

That’s the percentage in comparable restaurant revenue that Red Robin Gourmet Burgers reported for its third quarter ending Oct. 4 when compared to the third quarter in 2019. The Greenwood Village, Colo.-based chain’s total revenues were $200.5 million, a decrease of 31.9%. Of course, the decreases are a result of the company’s operational shift in response to COVID-19, including limited occupant capacity, operating an off-premise-only model at its restaurants with closed dining rooms, and closed restaurants. The good news is the chain experienced improvements in comparable restaurant revenue for the fiscal periods ended Aug. 9 (34.2%), Sept. 6 (24.9%), and Oct. 4 (14.9%) during the quarter when compared to the same periods in 2019.

We remain focused on our goal of delivering efficient, accelerated growth behind our three major long-term growth pillars: building our breakfast daypart, growing our digital business and expanding our international footprint."

— Todd Penegor, president and CEO of Wendy's, on the Dublin, Ohio-based fast-food chain's same-restaurant global sales increase of 6.1% for the third quarter, which ended Sept. 27.
